Ann Elizabeth Beda (nee Raynak) passed away on October 21, 2021 after a short illness at Hogarth Riverview Manor. Ann was born April 18, 1921 at home, living her entire life in the East End of Thunder Bay. She was the eldest daughter of Stephan and Mary Raynak (deceased) and sister to Steve (Victoria), John (Egles), Peter, Joseph, Bernard, and Albert (Sonia) Raynak all deceased. Ann married Frank Beda (deceased) and they had seven children: Gail, Frank (Maureen), Gladys (Tony) Tegola, Maureen (Bruce) Sutton, Gary (Cathy), Darlene (Robert) Zeni and Susan (Roger) Benvegnu. Ann is survived by her children, 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, her sister Mary (Steve (deceased)) Andrychuk, sisters-in-law Rita Raynak and Betty (Ron) Sawicki, cousins Mary LeBlanc, Margaret Majocha, Theresa Kristik and numerous nieces and nephews in North America and Europe. Ann's family, home, garden and church were the main interests of her life. She was a member of St. Peter's CWL and the Ladies Auxiliary, Slovak Legion, Branch 129. In her later years her daughters got her to travel to Las Vegas, Florida, Cuba and took her on several cruises. Ann like to play bingo and would go with her daughter, Gail, to Grand Portage bingos on Sundays. Ann was the best Scrabble player ever; she knew every 2-letter word in the dictionary. We would like to thank Allison from Ogden East End Clinic for her care while Mom was at home, and the staff at Hogarth Riverview (5N) for their excellent care in Mom's final days. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Peter's Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior in the church. Pandemic safety protocols apply. Those wishing to attend are asked to please register with the Blake Funeral Chapel by calling the office at (807) 623-6446. The service will be livestreamed at the St. Peter's Church facebook page. Darlene, Robert, Cathy and Gary and all the Beda Family,
My heartfelt condolences on the death of your sweet mother.
I remember that I was given the gift to be shown how to make Rolski cookies with this wonderful woman for a couple of years in a row! Darlene, you did warn me ahead of time that I had to buy a specific type of butter and walnuts, and your mom did check! She didn’t say anything, but she checked out what I had brought and I saw that sweet little smile on her face and knew I had passed! Lol!
I learned to play Scrabble with you and your mom while having tea after our walk. I still have that Scrabble board and remember. I remember a feeling of peace.
When I think of your mom, the words Gracious, Sweet and Kind come immediately to my mind.
What a wonderful way to be remembered!
Love to all of you during this very difficult time.

I was so sorry to hear of the recent passing of Anne Beda. I remember Anne from when I was a young girl growing up on MacIntosh St. Although, I no longer live in Thunder Bay, I visit often and always remember seeing Anne's smiling face at St. Peter's Church.
May God bless you and your family during this sad time.
