Ann Clavet Obituary

Mrs. Ann Clavet, age 84 years, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2018 in the TBRHSC-IMCU after bravely facing a week long struggle. Her family was continuously by her side.

Ann was born on June 2, 1934 to Alexander and Antonina Fodchuk in Sturgis, Saskatchewan. After the loss of her father at a young age, Ann moved to Fort William, Ontario with her mother and four brothers where Antonina re-married William Toffan. Ann loved visiting friends and family, travelling and worked as an employee of Canada Safeway Limited until her retirement in 1999. This job allowed Ann to be independent and raise her three boys - Gary, Andy and William, whom she remained devoted to until her passing.

Ann attended church regularly and participated in various volunteer positions after her retirement. She was especially proud of all her family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ann had a bit of a green thumb and was thrilled with how well her garden tomatoes, green peppers and basil were doing this summer! She was known for her generosity with food and her famous cabbage rolls and pedaheh were always a family gathering staple and will be greatly missed.

Ann will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her three sons and their wives, Gary and Caroline, Andy and Valerie and William and Taryl. Together, they gave Ann nine grandchildren: Thomas (Melanie), Mitchell (Kady), Sabrina (Jeffrey), Gary, Crystal, Andrea, Kimberly (Nathan), Rydelle (Justin), Jarrett (Jodi). Together they gave Ann seven great grandchildren: Oliver, Harrison, Camden, Tripp, Nash, Miah and Octavia. Ann's sisters-in-law, Lena and Margaret along with friends Mary, Isabel and Mary, will miss her dearly. Extended family and friends are going to feel her absence immensely.

Ann was predeceased by her late husband Alfred Clavet, parents Alexander and Antonina Fodchuk, stepfather William Toffan, brothers/sisters-in-law Ormie (Ethel), Alex (Millie), John, Peter, and best friend Connie Zaporzan … bless them all.

The family wishes to express that our last week with Ann was filled with love, togetherness, kindness and acceptance. We all had our special time with Ann before she departed on her journey.

Funeral Services for family and close friends in honour of Ann will be held on Tuesday, August 28th, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Ukrainian Catholic Church, 415 Victoria Ave W., presided by Father Stepan Didur. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service time. Private family interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ann's memory to the Holy Cross Ukrainian Catholic Church or to the IMCU at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Gary, Andy and William. My deepest condolences on the loss of your mother. I'm Connie's sister Judith and I got to talk with your mom when I was there two years ago. She was a beautiful lady and I really liked her. Her sudden passing will leave all who knew her with heavy hearts. May God be with you all and your families.
Sincerely,
Judith and Blaine Hill
