ANN DURANT Obituary

ANN DURANT February 17, 1934 - December 12, 2025
Ann Durant passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025 at St. Joseph's hospice in London Ontario, at the age of 91.

Born in Krydor, Saskatchewan to Olga and Steve Pronych, Ann moved with her family to Thunder Bay at the age of 5. There she spent the remainder of her life, building a loving home, lifelong friendships and a deep connection to her community and her faith through the Church of the Holy Cross.

Ann was predeceased by her beloved parents, Olga and Steve Pronych, and by her husband, Albert Douglas Durant. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Douglas Durant (Monika), Lisa Fowler (Don) and Lorelei Wright (Jim); her brother, Ron Pronych; and her cherished grandchildren Cameron, Nolan, Emily, Sidney, Alissa, Carson, and Melanie.

Music was a passion for Ann her entire life. She was a member of the Lakehead Choral Group and past president, as well as a cast member of The Cambrian Players, sharing her love of music with all who heard her sing. In her later years, even into her eighties, Ann also enjoyed ushering at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium.

In addition to enjoying time with her grandchildren, Ann loved to work in her garden, travel and simply enjoy a cup of Timmies French Vanilla cappuccino.

Ann's kindness, strong faith, and gentle, yet feisty spirit will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and volunteers who cared for our mother during her illness at TBRHSC in Thunder Bay and Victoria Hospital palliative care and St. Joseph's Hospice in London.

A funeral Mass at the Church of the Holy Cross in Thunder Bay will be announced at a later date.

Condolences to Ann´s children and grandchildren and Ron. She was always a special cousin in our hearts but distant in miles from us in Saskatchewan. Strong memories remain of her wedding day and visits to us in her later years. We grieve with you for this amazing woman. The world is a better place because of her. My deepest condolences to Ann´s family. I met Ann 40 years ago working at the Auditorium together and we remained good friends through all these years. She was always an inspiration-talented, beautiful, dignified, intelligent, independent, kind...so many wonderful attributes. She loved her children and grandchildren, proudly sharing stories and pictures . I´ll miss her wisdom and humour.

My deepest condolences to Doug, Lorelei and Lisa and their families. I have very fond memories of Ann while I was living in Thunder Bay. She was a very smart and talented woman. I learned a lot from her...my sons and I still warm our plates before dinner just like she used to do during those Sunday dinners. I am very sorry for your loss.

My sister Vera and I are Ann´s cousins and we all grew up together in Fort William. Vera was Ann´s age and they did more things together. Both had lovely voices and often sang duets together on stage at Ukrainian concerts and beyond. When Vera graduated as an RN she and Ann took off on an adventure on a Greyhound Bus for Santa Barbara
California! After a couple of years Ann returned home to Fort Willian, but Vera remained and married an American. Recently I reconnected with Ann when she sent me much appreciated condolences when my husband Don passed away. I´m so sorry for your loss.
