ANN METCALF Obituary

ANN DENISE METCALF December 19, 1950 ~ December 20, 2024
Ann Denise Metcalf, born on December 19, 1950, in North Bay, Ontario, passed away on December 20, 2024, in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan, at the age of 74. Her journey through life was marked by unwavering love, strength, and community spirit. Ann grew up exploring the world with her family, and eventually settled in Thunder Bay, where she met her husband Reginald. Together, they shared 47 devoted years before his passing, raising three children who became her pride and joy.

Ann was a dedicated mother and grandmother, finding immense joy in her role as a nurturing figure not just to her own children, Robert "Bob" (Darcy), Terri (Ian), and Bradley, but also to countless others on University Drive, where she babysat for many years. Known for her kindness and compassion, Ann touched the lives of everyone who knew her with a heart of gold. She was cherished as the nicest crossing guard in Northwood, a title she wore with pride, showing her commitment to both her community and her faith.

Ann's independence shone brightly after the loss of her beloved husband to cancer. Despite the adversities, she faced, including her own battle with pancreatic cancer, Ann remained resilient. Her family, including her brother Ben (Sharon), and her grandson Gavin, surrounded her with love and support until her final moments. Her spirit will continue to live on in her sisters-in-law Sharon, Joyce, Diane, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and neighbors who were touched by her kindness.

Ann was predeceased by her husband Reginald, her mother Laurette, her father Harvey, and her brothers Neil (Audrey), Danny, and Richard. As we remember her, we extend our gratitude to the healthcare professionals who supported her throughout her illness. Special thanks to Dr. Ashad, the nursing staff at the Cancer Care Clinic in Saskatoon, Dr. Diedrichs, Dr. Wentzel, and the dedicated staff at The Kerrobert Hospital.

A celebration of Ann's life will take place in Thunder Bay later this summer. Cremation has already occurred, and the family invites those who wish to honor her memory make a donation to their favourite charity in Ann's name. Ann's enduring legacy of love and compassion will forever be cherished by all who knew her. To share memories and condolences, visit www.parkfuneral.ca "Obituaries-Guestbook". I'm so sad to hear this. I also grew up knowing your mom and later on she was pretty much my neighbour. Her house will always be know as Ann's house! She always talked to everyone when she passed by. She watched my kids grow up as she did me. The neighbourhood was never the same when she moved. The Universe received another bright beautiful star.

My condolences to the family Mrs. Metcalf was a great lady and my crossing guard for almost my entire elementary school years .
I belive she remembered every child's name that went to St. Vincent's and Agnew that crossed at University and Edward. I bought a home in the neighbour's hood and until the family moved from University drive when passing she would always ask how we were doing.
Until her family moved.
