Anna Larocque Obituary

With deep sadness and regret we announce the sudden passing of our beloved wife, sister,aunt andfriendAnnaSophia Larocque (nee Swanson) on Thursday, August 25, 2005.Anna was born at home in Ouimet, Ontario. She married her best friend and the love of her life Victor on August 16, 1958, and they resided in Hurkett all their married life.Anna was a very active member of St. Isadore's Roman Catholic Church, chairperson of the Hurkett Community Centre, Secretary of the Stirling Local Roads Board, a member of the Dorion Hurket disking club,HurkettLadies Auxiliary, Hurkett Cemetery Board, Hurkett carnival committee, senior volunteer for North of Superior Programs, member of the Fort William Moose Chapter #1338 and a past member of the Local Services Board.She had worked in Nipigon for many years as secretary for the North of Superior Programs and as a Community Development worker for North of Superior Programs, retiring in 1998.Anna was the driving force behind and main promoter of the new Hurkett Community Centre and Rink Building.Predeceased by her parents - Marie and Oscar Swanson, brothers - Karl and Gust Swanson, a nephew Darrell Monty, grandparents - Sophia and Charles Johnson, sister-in-law Sylvia Larocque, and brothers-in-law Art Aylward, Ted, Edgar and PhilLaroque; she is survived by her loving husband Victor, sisters - Caroline (Hermen) Brochu, June (Bud) Copp both of Nipigon, Gladys (Albert) Monty of Wildwood, Alberta, Isabel (Ray) Goulet of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Gloria (Fern) Marier of Dorion, Ontario, sisters-in-law- Helen Aylward of Thunder Bay, Vi Larocque of Ingersoll, Ontario and brother-in-law Allan (Anne-Marie) Laroque of Hurkett. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.Anna was always there to help and will be missed by so many.Resting at the Elliott Funeral Home Ltd. , Nipigon where friends may call after 4 P.M. on Sunday, August 28, 2005.Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 29, 2005 at 11 A.M. at the Church of the Annunciation, Nipigon with Father R. Escarpe officiating.Interment will be in Hurkett United Cemetery, Hurkett, Ontario.Friends so wishing may make donations to the Hurkett Community Centre."
