ANNA MENEGON Obituary

MENEGON
Anna "Alma" Menegon beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, nonna, bisnonna, sister, sister-in-law, santola and friend passed away peacefully on May 30th, 2024 at the TBRHSC with her family by her side, at the age of 93. Her long and fulfilling life was defined by kindness, generosity and an unwavering dedication to her loved ones.

Alma was born on January 18,1931 in Meduno, Udine, Italy. In 1954 she married her soul mate, Adelino, and in1956 immigrated to Canada to join him. Alma worked tirelessly as a homemaker to raise her family. She also worked at the Nor Shore Hotel, Prince Arthur Hotel and in 1990 retired from the Avila Centre after 23 years of service there.

Alma's first passion was caring for and spending countless hours with her family. She was an avid story teller and enjoyed recounting her life experiences to her children and grandchildren. Alma adored the company of her many friends, who she cherished dearly. One of her favourite pastimes was conversing with her friends on the telephone. Alma was nurturing and supportive and always had a way of making others feel at home and important in her presence.
Our Mom was a woman of great faith. She was a member of St. Anthony's Church and a member of the Catholic Women's League. She looked forward to her Tuesday bingo at St. Anthony's Church, and came home so excited when she won.

You could always find her either cooking in her kitchen, tending to her garden, playing with her grandchildren, having coffee with her friends, reading quietly or watching programs on "RAI Italia".

Many wonderful memories were made during her travels to Italy, France, Cuba and Vancouver.

She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her daughters, Doris (Murray) McGuire, Maria (Richard) Cole, grandchildren Kelly, Katrina (Tristan Forbes) and Malary Cole, and great granddaughter Sophia Forbes. She also leaves behind her brother Onorino (Angelina), sisters-in-law Maria and Clotilde Liliane Menegon and many nieces and nephews that reside in Italy and France.

Alma was predeceased by her parents Annetta and Pietro Menegon, her husband Adelino Menegon, son Gino and siblings Attilio (Teresina), Aldo, and brother-in-law Leonardo Menegon.

A special thank you to all those who have supported our family during our Mom's illness. We appreciated the many visits, words of encouragement, prayers, and acts of kindness, which have helped us tremendously and will never be forgotten.

Our family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of the medical staff at St. Joseph's Care Group and the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, including Dr. Minty, Dr. Sellick, Dr. Zaib, Dr. Chan, Dr. Czolpinski, Dr. Lai, and nursing staff, who provided compassionate and exceptional care. We would also like to thank Bay Shore Health Care, for providing Alma with home care, which allowed her to remain in her beloved home. A special mention to Diane, Mary and Judy for their kindness and professionalism. Also, we would like to thank Amanda and Rob, whose daily visits gave our mom a sense of joy, security and comfort, as they provided her with excellent care and listened as she reminisced about her life's journey.

Funeral Services for the late Alma Menegon will be held on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024, when family and friends will gather at St. Anthony's R.C. Church for the visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Fr. Luigi Filippini. A family interment will follow at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery.

Those wishing to attend the service via live stream may do so through St. Anthony's Church website.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre - Cancer Care, or a Charity of Your Choice.

Mama and Nonna, we will think about you always, we will never forget you and what you taught us. We will hold you close within our hearts, and there you will remain, forever and always. Ti vogliamo tanto bene.
