ANNA SAVAS Obituary

SAVAS, ANNA RITA (nee Tocheri)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Anna on May 14th, 2025 at the impressive age of 95. She was beautiful and feisty yet meek and mild mannered. She survived Acoustic Neuroma, and four hip surgeries in her lifetime. Anna loved and greatly missed her late husband of over 50 years and will be happily reunited with James Diamond. She will be sorely missed by her three children: Jamie (Carol), Rick (Denise), and Cheryl (Jim Tranter). Her five grandchildren have many fond memories and will miss her generosity and devotion: Kara, Rebecca, Samantha, Zoe, and Nick. She was thrilled and proud to have three great-grandchildren: Hudson, Mateo and Cooper. Anna is survived by her brother Fred (June), and sister-in laws Agnes (John) and Vivian (Al). Anna missed and will be also welcomed by her predeceased brother John, sister Rose (and Ray) Freeborn, and "sister" Mary (and Bill) Casella, along with in-laws: June Tocheri, Gus Savas, Tess (and Frank) Frank Gerrie, Ted and Evelyn Savas, and Al Stones. Memories abound with her many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces as well as her many close cousins.

Anna was born February 20th, 1930 in Fort William (now Thunder Bay) to Gina and Alfred Tocheri - hard working immigrants from Celano, Italy who provided well for their family through the great depression. At 20 years of age, she lost her father in a tragic car accident. This changed the family dynamic greatly. Shortly thereafter, Anna and her Mother moved to Little Italy in Toronto to join her brother Fred. She was a secretary at Encyclopedia Brittanica, and Bank of Nova Scotia until she met the love of her life and settled to raise her family in Scarborough. Her hobbies included knitting, bunka, decoupage, watching sports, and most of all SHOPPING. She was always impeccably dressed and had an expansive wardrobe. In her later years she enjoyed time with family, reminiscing with Agnes, June, Vivian, and Evelyn, reading, crosswords, and playing solitaire on her iPad.

There will be no visitation or service at her request. She is being cremated, and interment will be scheduled in Thunder Bay at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of choice or to the humane society in your area would be appreciated. She loved all the dogs and cats in her lifetime.
