Anna Symons Obituary
(nee Johansen) 1944 ~ 2025
With deep sadness, her family wishes to inform that Anna passed away on December 16, 2025 at the age of 81 while in Hospice care due to a severe stroke.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, she was raised and schooled in Geraldton, Ontario. She then became a student Resident Nurse at Port Arthur General Hospital and graduated with her 3 year RN certificate in 1965.
While still in nursing school, she was introduced to Wayne Symons during a blind date and after graduation, a marriage followed that continued for 60 years.
In the early 1970s, they moved with two very young children to the U.S. to the Tampa Bay area of Florida, where we all lived for many years as well as Huntsville, Alabama; Elliot Lake, Ontario; and finally settled in Sun City Center, Florida.
Anna thoroughly enjoyed safely watching from behind our Lanai windows, waterfowl, gators, and yes, snakes in a large pond which provided many hours of her entertainment. She loved reading books, solving crossword puzzles, and watching Jeopardy.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Symons of Sun City Center, Florida; daughter, Heather Monnet (Robert) of Sun City Center, Florida; grandchildren, Alexander (Heather) and Jacqueline; and sister, Jane Munro (Richard) of Kingsville, Ontario.
Predeceased by parents, Thorbjorn and Thomasina Johansen of Geraldton, Ontario; brother, Thorwald Johansen of Geraldton/Thunder Bay, Ontario; and son, Michael Symons, of Tampa, Florida.
Cremation has taken place. If anyone wishes, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or any animal shelter will be deeply appreciated.
