ANNE WOWCHUK Obituary

Anne Theresa Wowchuk (née Roman), born June 1, 1928, in Port Arthur, Ontario, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024.

Anne lived a vibrant and fulfilling life, marked by her deep love for her family and her active engagement in the world around her. She cherished her time with loved ones, finding immense joy in family trips to Duluth and playful moments with her grandchildren, whether kicking a soccer ball or playing hide and seek. Anne also delighted in her coffee time and people-watching at Intercity Mall, which became a cherished part of her daily routine.

Before embracing her role as a devoted mother, Anne worked with pride in the cosmetics department at Eaton's, where her commitment to elegance and presentation became a lifelong trait.

Anne was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her legacy of love, grace, and joy will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Anne is survived by her daughters, Kelly (Tim) Beck and Lesley (Joe) Deleo, her beloved grandchildren Jamie and Tyler Beck, her brother Ed Roman and sister-in-law Helen Roman. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, including the special connection she had with her sister Zena's children: Gerri, Richard, Gordon, and James Wong, and her grandnephew Jason Wong.

She was predeceased by her husband William Wowchuk, her parents Katherine and Samuel Roman, and her siblings Stella (Tony) Shylo, Olga (Peter) Polonosky, Peter (Louise) Roman, John Roman, Zena (Charles) Wong, Dolly (Frank) Sabatini, and sister-in-law Gayle Roman.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Pioneer Ridge, Plaza 2 for their exceptional care and compassion towards our mother. You are an extraordinary group of people, and your kindness made a significant difference in our lives.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel on Friday, August 16th at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. Online condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.

Anne will be remembered for her unwavering love, her generous spirit and her devotion to family. Her spirit will live on in our hearts and forever cherished by all who loved her.

You'll be greatly missed, Aunt Anne. Always with an easy smile and ready to chuckle at a joke. I remember stopping by the Eaton's cosmetics counter on my way home from school, just to say hi to her. I recall her working tirelessly to remove the orange colour from my hair following a bad dye job...worst thing that could happen to a teen girl; thank goodness you had the skill; so funny now. Always immaculate - always kind - always loving. And always willing to share some time during our visits to Thunder Bay. Give a hug to Uncle Bill for me! My love to you both. Our deepest condolences to you, Kelly and Lesley.

Aunt Anne, I love you. I often think about our countless memories together, some of my earliest memories even. From you picking me up and going for drives and just chatting about how school is, to going over to your house, having a snack, and playing with Kelly and Leslie's old toys. I remember you sitting and playing Kerplunk with me for hours. I remember the exact feeling of joy that I would get when the phone would ring and it would be you asking if I wanted to go for lunch. I always knew that we would be headed to the Blue Parrot. I remember everybody there remembering you and treating us so nicely when we were there. Oftentimes, I remember you dropping me off afterward, either to head out on Saturday to get your hair done and then off to the hall to go dancing. You were truly one of the most influential people in my life. You cared about me so greatly, I could feel it every time I was with you or had the chance to talk to you, even on the phone. I often think about traveling around Alberta with you and getting lost in Saskatchewan together. It brings a smile to my face. I miss you, Aunt Anne, and I love you.
