ANTHONY CRUPI Obituary
ANTHONY RICKY "TONY" CRUPI
With heartfelt sadness, the family of Anthony Ricky "Tony" Crupi, announces his peaceful passing on Thursday, October 30th, 2025, at TBRHSC, with his children and family at his side, after a short and heroic battle with cancer.
Tony was born on May 14th, 1971, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, to proud parents Domenico & Francesca.
Tony was a man known for many things. He was a man with a great heart, a passion for his family, a caring and valued friend to many, and an avid golfer. He was an amazing father, who was always so proud of his two children and devoted to their success above all.
Tony began working at the Valhalla Inn as a banquet server and bartender in 1987, working with his brother Cosimo, and many of his cousins, where he forged excellent bonds that lasted decades. Tony then began working for the Canada Revenue Agency, dedicating 32 years of his life to his career, working with his brothers, and cousins. Tony progressed steadily in his career, starting in the mail room, working his way up to his role as Team Leader, where he left a giant impact on those working under him, while also being an excellent advocate for his fellow colleagues as a representative of PSAC and UTE, where he met some of his closest friends.
Tony deeply valued his relationships and was known for spending his days visiting different groups of friends to stay connected with everyone. He shared countless mornings at Tim Hortons and New York Subway with his "coffee crews," especially his cousin Rick and Uncle Tony Crupi, and often stopped by his best friend Dino's house for coffee and conversation. He spent his summers golfing around Thunder Bay with his brothers, cousins, and friends, and his winters playing hockey on Sunday evenings and broomball on Saturday mornings. Tony loved to travel, whether to Toronto to visit family, Siderno to enjoy the beaches and explore his ancestral homeland, or Las Vegas, where he spent days by the Flamingo Go Pool and nights winning jackpots. He had many adventures with his "adopted brothers", Jeff Wright and Dino Bisignano, including camping trips at KOA, and many trips to Vegas. He shared countless adventures with Shauna, to Toronto, Las Vegas, Niagara Falls, Halifax, and the seafood buffet at Black Bear. Among his proudest memories were taking his children to Maple Leafs and Blue Jays games, Camden's first Raptors game, Michaela's first concert, and a month-long trip to Italy with Camden in 2023, exploring their roots in Calabria. A lifelong sportsman, Tony was a devoted coach, player, and manager on many teams, typically having one of his brothers or many cousins with him. He was especially proud to coach Michaela's hockey team and to cheer her on from the front row at every one of her softball games.
Tony is deeply missed by his two loving children, Camden & Michaela, his devoted mother, Francesca, his brothers & best friends Cosimo (Adriana), Dennis, and Roberto (Cristina). His nephews and niece Andrew, Nicholas, Domenico, and Natalee, the mother of his children Shauna Murphy (Chris Jones), his special cousins Vince (Teresa) Baggetta, Tony Baggetta, and Gabriella (Frank) Lopreiato, all in Toronto. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends in Thunder Bay, Toronto, and Siderno, Italy.
He was predeceased by his father, Domenico, his grandparents Rosa Galluzzo & Antonio De Leo, and Cosimo & Carmela Crupi, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and his godfathers of baptism and confirmation.
Our family would like to give a special thank you to Shauna. She has spent each and every day with Tony and the kids, navigating him through treatments, appointments, and care, putting her life on hold to be at his and the children's side. Our family would also like to thank Dr. Joseph Del Paggio, Dr. Kathy Simpson, Dr. Alyson Dykstra, Dr. Katrina Ward, and 1A nurses Abdi, Bailey, Daniella, Isabelle, Jenna, and Sophie, for their excellent care and unwavering compassion for our Dad and our family.
A Visitation and Tribute Service will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Sargent & Son Funeral Home, located at 21 N. Court Street, Thunder Bay. Family and friends will gather at 11:00AM, Wednesday, November 5th, 2025 at St. Dominic's Church for a Funeral Mass, celebrated by Fr. Bonaventure Anaike. Following the funeral, a private family entombment will take place at Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum. Those wishing to attend virtually may do so by viewing the live-stream on the Sargent & Son Facebook page.
In lieu of flowers, the Crupi family requests that donations be made in Tony's honour to the TBRHS Foundation Northern Cancer Fund or the Northern Cardiac Fund.
