Anthony Hrkac Obituary

Anthony (Tony) Hrkac age 83 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2011, at his home, with his family by his side. Anthony was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1130. He also worked at the Canadian National Railway for 35 years. Over the last 20 years Anthony survived all odds from kidney failure to heart disease but he had a will to live. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He stayed close to home during that time and lived through the stories (good and silly ones) his children and grandchildren would share with him. He was very proud of all of them and their accomplishments, especially his son's 18 year career in the NHL. Anthony is survived by his sister Amy Kasunic, brother Ray Hrkac (Shirley), wife Mary (Kachor) Hrkac, daughters Terri Hrkac, Susan Bukovy (Brian), Nancy Carleton (Mark), his son Tony Hrkac (Kathy) and grandchildren, Allison & Courtney Hrkac, Ryan Hrkac, Steven, Lindsay & Brooke Bukovy and Bridget & Bailey Carleton. Anthony was preceded by his mother and father, Margaret & Andrew Hrkac and his sister, Anne Hurrell and brother-in-law Tom Kasunic. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 24, 2011, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church celebrated by Rev. Luigi Fillipini. Services will be complete in the church with interment to follow at a later date in St. Andrew's Cemetery. If friends desire, memorials to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Anthony Hrkac in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 10, 2012. On-line Condolencesmay be sent towww.blakefuneralchapel.com "
