ANTON KOZLIK Obituary

1939-2024
(also known as Stanley Spooner, his adoptive name), has died, 85, in London, Ontario, Canada.

Born in Nipigon, in Northwestern Ontario, he remembered boyhood fishing there all his life. Entrepreneur from young age and produced student newspaper for Lakehead high schools for a couple of years, then reported on and photographed sports events for city newspapers.

A stint as advertising manager for Eaton's and American Standard, and nude centrefold for Teac Stereo advertising campaign in magazines. His was an episodic life.

Produced Alternative Guide to Montreal Expo and his printing company produced all the horse racing programs until a hostile take-over forced he and his then wife to flee to Wexford, England for a year.

Produced and marketed a line of mustards that bear his name.

Married twice; both wives and son predeceased him. Estranged from daughter he raised as his own.

He'd enjoyed golf internationally, and at Strathcona locally in the 2000s. He was a writer, author, and playwright, a storyteller to his end.

Mormon. Then an atheist. No service.
~#~ I cannot sleep. My heart pounds; it beats rushing my thoughts. All I can think of is you. And me. Together. Apart. Each alone. I went on; you did not. You went on; I did not. And now you're gone. Unspoken hanging. These hands shake with forever realizing it's truly over now. ~#~ Tell someone you love them ~ friend, Teresa Parr

Sending my condolences Teresa. Stan was a family friend of my Chaboyer family in Nipigon. He and his first family came up for fishing trips every summer. It was always nice to see him. If this message gets to you Teresa please contact me at 8076278542. Judy Baillie

I’ve known Anton, through cribbage at the Legion, for many years now. He was a great cribbage player and a good sport! I always admired his positive attitude toward life despite its many obstacles for him. I truly will miss him, I’ll miss his phone calls, his ornery side and many stories about his putter. RIP Anton!
