Antonio Belsito Obituary

1911 - 2001Mr. Tony Belsito, of Dawson Court, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, April 20, 2001, with his family at his side to say goodbye. He recently celebrated his 90th birthday and was able to share the day with his family and friends who were all very special to him. Born in Donnici Superiore, Italy, he moved to Thunder Bay in 1951 and has resided here ever since where he was employed with the City of Thunder Bay until his retirement in 1976. He was a member of the Italian Army and served his country in the North Africa War and in WWII. In Thunder Bay he was a longstanding member of the Italian Society of Port Arthur and spent many afternoons in the members' room playing cards with his old friends. He was also a member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church and especially enjoyed the Seniors' Club bocci games. Tony is survived by his son Domenic (Helen) Belsito; his daughters Nella (Silvio) Ambrose, Noreen (Frank) Arno, and Fran Belsito. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought a special joy to his life, as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Assunta, daughter Agata, his brothers and sisters, and his parents. Funeral services for the late Mr. Tony Belsito will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2001 leaving the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma, at 8:50 am for Mass of the Resurrection at 9:30 am in St. Anthony's R.C. Church, celebrated by Father Umberto Rizzi. Interment to follow in St. Andrew's R.C. Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be after 6:00 pm Monday evening in the Everest Chapel, with prayers offered at 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Dawson Court would be greatly appreciated.
