ARTHUR HAGBERG Obituary

ARTHUR (ART) ALEXANDER HAGBERG AUGUST 11 1943-AUGUST 17 2024
Arthur was born in Pine Falls, Manitoba; the second last of 11 children to Tynne and Charles Hagberg. In 1945 they moved their family to Finmark, Ontario, where Art attended Finmark School.

While working for INCO Ltd in Thompson, Manitoba he met, then married Patricia Duberry and became a father to Dean and Jennifer. Art drove truck and was a heavy equipment operator. He was also very skilled mechanically and in woodworking and carpentry. His career took him from Ontario to British Columbia and many points in between, before settling back in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

He was proud to become a grandfather to Dean/Wanda Kenuck's daughters Amber (Brad) Summach, Ashlee (Ross) Barrett and Arren (Mac) Cox, as well as Jennifer's daughters Tricia (James) Squitti and Alana (Jake) Squitti He was also proud to have had eight great grandchildren Austin Hagberg, Bo, Heather and Emma Summach, Sydney and Aiden Squitti and Hayden and Cooper Squitti-Bruce.

Art had a great sense of humour and liked to tease kids and adults alike. He enjoyed people having a good time and was very generous in making sure the party was ongoing, often spending all his money to ensure friends and family enjoyed life to the fullest. He had a passion for camping, race cars, Fords, boxing, UFC fights, teasing kids and even animals (including Dean's Red Angus bull, Chucky).

There are many stories that his son, daughter, nieces, nephews and other relatives can reminisce about "Uncle Art". As quoted by Willie Nelson, and lived by Art Hagberg: "To Hell with what people think. Just be who you are, and you will be Happy". After parting ways with Patricia (still maintaining their friendship), Art remarried to Jacquie McKenzie. They had many adventures together. After her passing, he stayed a widower for the remainder of his life.

Art was predeceased by his parents Charles and Tynne Hagberg, wife Jacquie Hagberg, and by the mother of his children, Patricia Dubery-Knuuttila; as well as siblings Helen (Toivo) Marttunen, Charles Hagberg, Walter Hagberg, Leonard (Margaret) Hagberg, Bertha (Eino) Pudas (Einar Hegge), Ann (Stan) Muir, and Fred (Mabel) Hagberg.

Art is survived by his siblings Irma Hagberg (Clyde Baglien), Arlene Maxwell, Ken (Jeannie) Hagberg and sister in-law Verna Hagberg, as well as many nieces and nephews.

His last years with failing health were spent at Southbridge Lakehead Manor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent there to enrich the lives of other seniors as Art would have wished.
