It is with heavy hearts that we announce Avio Marchesin, 77 years, of Thunder Bay, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2013 with his family by his side. He was born in Trevignano, Treviso, Italia. Avio ventured to Canada in 1957 where he met and married Anna Rosin. Together they raised four children. Avio worked his trade as a mason for over 40 years and ran a successful business. Since retiring, his passions included his grandchildren and gardening and he enjoyed his daily morning coffee with friends. He was a man who worked hard, lived honestly and loved his family. Avio is survived by his wife, Anna; children, Oscar (Roberta), Lisa Amato (Salvatore) and Rita; grandchildren, Sophia, Paige and Gabriella Amato; mother, Anita Guizzo Marchesin of Istrana, Italia and siblings, Gabriella, Lina, Gino, Luigi, Bruna and Carlo of Istrana, Italia and Mario of Toronto, Canada. He was predeceased by his son, Roberto; father, Igenio and brother, Sergio. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 10:00am, at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church celebrated by Rev. Maurizio Maifredi c.s. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Prayers will be offered on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 6:00pm in the Blake Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Avio Marchesin in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.
