BARBARA CHALAT Obituary

BARBARA ANN CHALAT (nee Bell) December 11, 1948 ~ July 21, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Chalat (nee Bell), loving Daughter, Sister, Friend, Wife, Mother, and Nana. Barbara peacefully passed away on July 21, 2024 at Hogarth Riverview Manor, after living bravely with Dementia. Barbara was born and raised in Fort William on December 11, 1948 and enjoyed her summers camping with friends and family at Thousand Lakes Resort on Lac Des Mille Lac. Her passion toward sewing, knitting, and crocheting never failed to impress her family. She dedicated several years of her life helping and caring for others as an RNA at the McKellar Hospital, as well as other healthcare facilities. She leaves behind the love of her life, devoted husband Earnest (Ernie) Chalat of 53 years of which they have cherished many happy memories together. She also leaves behind her loving children Steve (Cynthia), Paul (Dianna), and Marnie (Mark), as well as her six grandchildren Kaitlyn, Nolan, Jazmyn, Jonah, Nathan, and Phoenix. Barbara is survived by her mother Ann Bell, her sister Elaine Bahlieda (Ken), her brother Herman Bell (Carol), and her best friend Chris Crocker. She will be dearly missed by all her family members. Barbara is predeceased by her father Aubrey Bell and her brother Ed Bell. Her smile always lit up the room whenever her loved ones came to visit and her warm hugs signified a deep emotional bond to those she loved. As per the family's request, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society.

We were so sorry to learn of Barb's passing. It has been a long and difficult journey for all of you. Dear Ernie and Family,
I was so saddened to hear of Barb's passing. ( I was away) I want you to know how priviledged I feel to have walked a bit of her journey with her and your family. We had a connection where I could get her to smile and chat with me and she would laugh at my singing "Barbie-girl" to her(with her permission of course!)
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of her journey. You're in my prayers.
Sincerely,
Robin Harvey
