BARBARA MACK Obituary

BARBARA ELIZABETH MACK
Barbara Elizabeth Mack (née Cole) passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the age of 88 as the result of a tragic act of nature. Barb was born and grew up in Fort William, Ontario, in a large family of siblings. During her life, she enjoyed many sports, including skating, swimming, skiing and bowling. Barb attended high school and later trained as a nursing assistant at Confederation College. She worked for many years at Hogarth Manor. Barb married her husband John in 1957. Together, they raised two sons, David and Gordon, at their home in Current River. The family loved to travel, visiting many places (and baseball stadiums), in places like Chicago and Minneapolis. After she retired, Barb enjoyed many happy hours at the Thunder Bay 55 Club with her knitting group. Barb was a devoted mother to her sons, a loving grandmother to her granddaughters, and a caring friend to many. Throughout her life, she was always ready to help family members, neighbours and animals. There was nothing she liked better than sharing a story with someone she'd just met. Barb inspired us all to seize the moment and experience life's adventures. At the age of 85, she moved to Mississauga to be close to her son Gordon and his family. She lived life on her own terms, remaining independent until she passed away. Barbara is predeceased by her parents, her siblings, (Russell, Richard, Harvey, George, Ray, Gerry, Robert, Bonnie, Lois and Helen), her husband John, and her son David. She is survived by her son Gordon (Andrea) and her granddaughters Zoe (Ian) and Sarah (Jenna). According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. Interment will be privately held at a future date. To honour and celebrate Barb's life, donations may be made to one of her favourite charities, Hope for Wildlife, War Amps or Covenant House.
