Bartlett Kusik Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce that Bartlett (Bart) Kusik passed away peacefully on July 7, 2020 at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital, with her family by her side. Bart was born in Swastika, Ontario on July 27, 1927, and moved as a toddler to Schreiber. She married the love of her life, Stanley Kusik, in 1946 and they enjoyed 63 years together, and raised three children. Bart was an active member of many organizations in Schreiber, and worked for many years at the local department store. She was a member of Holy Angels CWL for 74 years and recently was honoured with the Maple Leaf Award recognizing her years of service. Bart and Stan enjoyed many winters in Florida and Arizona. After re-locating to Thunder Bay in 1995, Bart became a member of the Harbourview Condominium Board, organized many social events there, and also bowled regularly. Bart's hands were never idle. She loved to sew, knit, crochet, needlepoint and was always up for learning a new craft. Bart had an abundance of energy right up till the end, that amazed all who knew her. Bart was the anchor of her family which was her greatest pride and joy. Her passing will leave a huge void in their lives. Bart is survived by Crystal (Jack) Gordon, Vancouver, BC, Larry (Cecile) Kusik (Terrace Bay), and Laureen (Dave) Kay (Schreiber). Also survived by grandchildren: Drew (Andrea) Gordon, Dean (Jennifer) Gordon, Rhonda (Darren) Kusik, Lawrence (Crystal) Kusik, Kyle (Rochelle) Kay, Darrell (Kate) Kay. Great grandchildren Jackson, Alexandra, Taylor, Sydney, Brendan, Cassandra (Ross), Courtney (Mike), Cloe, Darian, Alexander, and Jonathan. Also survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law Don and Anne Kusik. Bart was predeceased by her husband Stanley, parents Elsie and Harry Jewell, mother-in-law and father-in-law Mary and Harry Kusik, sister Emerald Paradis, brothers Henry Jewell, Al Jewell, and Garnet Jewell. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice.

“A limb has fallen from
the family tree, but please
do not grieve for me.
Remember the best times,
the laughter, the song,
the good life I lived
when I was strong.”

Our sincere condolences to Crystal, Larry, Laureen and family on the loss of such a kind and generous lady. It was a pleasure to get reacquainted with her in recent years when she renewed her friendship with my mother, which she greatly appreciated.

I only knew her as Mrs. Kusik (in my young^er years)growing up in Schreiber but remember her as being a very nice soft spoken lady & I always thought she was so pretty. I hope your mom & dad had a good life together. My sincerest condolences to you and your families. Sandi Ross
