August 23, 1933 - September 2, 2011. Mrs. Beatrice (Bice) Notte age 78 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph's Care Group, on Friday, September 2, 2011 after a brief illness. Bice was born August 23, 1933 in Castelpetroso, Campobasso Italy. Bice immigrated to Fort William in 1958 and married Carmine Notte in 1959. Together they raised their children, Connie and Emilio. Bice took pride in caring for her family and was a gentle, loving mother to her children. Family and friends will always remember her home cooked Italian meals, baking and garden preserves which she shared with everyone. Her home was a welcome to one and all. Joanne and Brenda were neighbours with whom she built a life long relationship and enjoyed their friendship and social gatherings. Bice was devoted to her Roman Catholic Italian upbringing. She was a member of the CWL and active participant of the Legion of Mary. Bice also enjoyed her annual religious pilgrimages to the Shrines of St. Ann, Montreal and Immacolata Conceziona,Ignace. For numerous years Bice made monetary donations to many various missionaries and especially to her Italian hometown for the yearly festival of the Madonna of St. Carmine whereby she continued her husband's charitable work. Her generosity and kind heart will be greatly missed. Bice had various part time jobs until she began full time employment with Mini Maid until her retirement. She enjoyed working and made many friends along the way. Bice is survived by her children Connie Lipsa (Glen Gibson), Emilio, sisters Sabina Giancola (Pasquale), Libera Taffuri and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family in Italy. Predeceased by her husband Carmine, parents Antonio and Adelina Vacca brothers Annibale and Mario and sisters Nicolina Torfe and Gina Roarco. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Cathedral celebrated by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G.. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Prayers will be offered Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at7:00 p.m. in the Blake Funeral Chapel. If friends desire, memorials to St. Joseph's Foundation or the Northern Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
