Benjamin Kenneth Hey

Benjamin Hey Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved dad, granddad and great granddad, while visiting his daughter Barbara in Lima, Peru. He was predeceased by his wife Catherine in 2000. Ben is survived by his brother Alfred, his daughters Barbara (Alex) Dmitrienko and Donna (Gary) Dmitrienko, grandsons Iain (Iwona) and Bruce (Becky) Dmitrienko, granddaughters Klaudia (Todd) (Dmitrienko) and Catherine (Mark) Dmitrienko and five beautiful great grandchildren, Natalia, David, Benjamin, Brody and Anya. Ben served his country proudly in the forestry corps and the air force in the second world war and was the last surviving member of his Lancaster flight crew. We remember him, not only as a caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, but also as a fiercely determined and independent individual with a sharp sense of humour, an intense curiosity about the world, and a life-long commitment to learning that has inspired us all. Much loved, he is sadly missed. Cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering is being planned for this spring. Details will be announced at a later date."
