Born: February 15, 1937
Died: June 1, 2022
It is with sadness that the Lind family announce the death of Bernard (Bernie) Lind at St. Joseph's Hospice June 1, 2022 shortly after 1 a.m. The cause of death is Heart Failure.
Bernie is the spouse of Terry (Theresa). Father to Vyvyan (deceased), Christopher (Tara) and Chantal. Grandfather to Nyssa (Rob), Taysia, Deirdre, Melora and Kelsey (deceased). Great grandfather to Tommy. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye and he loved each and every one of them unconditionally. He was cousin to Larry, Lois and Eleanor.
Bernie was in the RCAF for over 25 years. He enjoyed and loved his time there. Upon retirement in 1979, he returned to his home, Thunder Bay. He was a teller of corny jokes and trivia, words that sounded the same but spelled differently, anything to do with history and years doing Lapidary. He really enjoyed gardening taught to him by his grandmother. He looked forward to his daily meetings with his Northwood coffee group held at Woking Bird Restaurant. His idea of a good time was to be in a boat, on a lake, fishing rod in hand. I would be remiss if I did not mention his playing the computer game POGO with a magnifying glass in hand (he was a bit hooked on that game).
I wish to thank the following for looking after Bernie, Dr. Lai, Dr. James Stamler, Dr. Dhurjon, Dr. Long, Ric from Paramed and all others that crossed his path.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Cardiovascular surgery “Our Hearts at Home” or Lion Vision Care Fund or a
Charity of Your Choice.
We had 61 years together Bern, many bases we lived on from Marville, France, Cold Lake, AB and Comox, Vancouver Island, and Portage La Prairie, MB. Many memories were made by the Lind family. You will always be with us. We just need to open up the memories and there you are.
