So sorry to hear that Bernie has died, Shirley. Sounds like he lived a full and satisfying life. The photo you chose looks to be just about the time I first met your brother. He must have been 15 or so. We lost touch over the years, but I remember him as a singular individual, smart, funny, sardonic, interesting. He felt things strongly and made the world a more interesting place.

I was in the same class as Bernie in G 11 and 12 at Westgate and enjoyed his good nature and quick wit. He always was respectful and it was a pleasure to know him. I last saw him in 1964 before I continued my education at Ryerson in Toronto. High School shaped a lot of us!
