BETTY PEARSON Obituary

BETTY FRANCES PEARSON (nee Ostenrud)
Passed away on March 12, 2025 at the age of 101 in Camrose, Alberta. Betty and her four siblings were born in Inwood, Manitoba to Norwegian immigrants Maurits and Netta Ostenrud (nee Simonsen). The family relocated to Port Arthur when the children were young. Betty excelled at school, graduating Valedictorian from Hillcrest High School. Betty's adventurous and independent spirit and deep religious faith soon guided her to employment at the Lutheran Bible College in Camrose. Betty was a treasured member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She loved being around people and had many friends spanning all age groups. She lived simply but was generous with everything she had. Betty swam a mile three times a week well into her nineties; physical fitness was important to her as was her Norwegian heritage. Betty surrendered her driver's license reluctantly when she was 92. Over the years, Betty frequently set off from Camrose on adventures around the world with close friends Thelma or Nora visiting her nephew, nieces and friends. She was always a welcome sight with her radiant smile, elegant stature and exquisite fashion sense. Betty retired in 1987 and in 1992 she married Rev. Bob Pearson. She was predeceased by Bob, and siblings Alfred, Jennie, Ida Constance, and Fritjof. She is survived by the children and families of her siblings Jennie (Jim, Frances and Laura) and Fritjof (Arlene, Anita, Kim, Cathy, Sharon, and Sheila), and Bob's children Steve, Dave, Judy and Liz. The funeral service and internment will take place on April 2nd in Camrose, Alberta followed by a Celebration of Life. The funeral will be streamed on Messiah's website.
