BEVERLEY MARGARET CARSON (nee Ash)
Beverley Margaret Carson (nee Ash), known affectionately to friends and family as Bev, passed away on September 9, 2025, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre due to complications following surgery. Born on September 27, 1942, in Flin Flon, Manitoba, Bev's vivacious spirit and love for life touched many throughout her 82 years.
Bev was a lifelong learner, beginning her educational journey at Manitoba Teachers' College in Winnipeg, Manitoba. While in Winnipeg, she met and married Richard Carson in 1964. She taught school for 2 years in Manitoba before moving to Thunder Bay in 1970, where she became a beloved piano teacher to many students. Her passion for education lead her to Lakehead University where she achieved a Bachelor of Arts (Music) in 1994. Her dedication to music education was recognized with a lifetime achievement award through the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association (ORMTA), a testament to her impact on the musical community.
In addition to her professional achievements, Bev's personal interests painted the picture of a woman who embraced the joys of life wholeheartedly. She enjoyed throwing a good party, ensuring that every gathering was filled with laughter, warmth, and the clinking of glasses in celebration. Bev's love of travel took her on many adventures with her late husband, Rick, and their close-knit circle of friends. Together, they explored new places and created lasting memories.
A patron of the arts, Bev loved attending live theatre and was a regular at Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra performances. Her musical talents were not confined to her piano teaching; played the piano and organ at St. Thomas' Anglican Church for many years and cherished the moments she spent singing Handel's Messiah with the symphony chorus.
Bev was the loving and proud matriarch of her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Carson. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter with her daughters, Michelle Carson and Erin Puhalski (Jim), and her adored grandchildren, Taylor Hay (Heather), Jeremy Hay (Mhel), Ben Puhalski, Lindsay Puhalski, and Jamie Puhalski. Her great-grandson, Richard Harper, will grow up hearing stories of his spirited great-grandmother. Bev also leaves behind her sisters-in-law, Louise Carson, Vicki Ash, and Maria Ash, as well as many nieces and nephews in Winnipeg, Brandon, and Ottawa. She was also very proud to be a godparent to 12 godchildren.
As we say goodbye to Beverley Margaret Carson, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of passion, music, and joy. Her memory will resonate like a beautiful melody in the hearts of her family, friends, and the countless lives she touched through her teaching and music. Bev's indomitable spirit will forever be remembered and cherished.
