Beverly Massaro Obituary

October 18, 1936 – August 12, 2022

Mom left us on August 12, 2022 peacefully and painlessly on the journey to her next adventure. She will be meeting up with her loving husband Albert Massaro, brothers-in-law Bunny and Frank Massaro, sisters-in-law Maxine and Alice Jean Massaro, nephew Jamie Saari, and her closest
friend Marilyn Hicklin. And now the shenanigans will continue!

Bev was also predeceased by her parents Ted and Mamie Saari, in-laws Sanduccio and Teresa Massaro, brother-in-law Tony Massaro, sisters-in-law Kay Davis and Mary Richards, and other beloved family members.

Left with many memories of laughter and love are brother Dave Saari (Barb), brother-in-law Sandy Massaro (Elizabeth), daughter Deb Wray (Alan), son Brian Massaro (Liane) and son Bruce Massaro (Rosanne), as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and wonderful friends, near and far. And let's not leave out the joys of her life, her grandchildren: Jessica Nass (Erik), Andrea Wray (Mike), Lindsay Wray (Quinn), Stephen Massaro (Natalie), Rachelle Minthorn (Ian), Andrew Massaro, and Danny Massaro. And of course, her canine buddy, Tucker. And then adding to her fullest blessings, her great grandchildren, who she got to hold and whisper stories to at every chance she could: Jayden, Grace, Sadie, Ava, June, Edwin, William, Norenna, Jaxon and Oliver. Quite a legacy!

Born in Thunder Bay (Port Arthur) on October 18, 1936, Mom spent many summers as a child in Mabella, and going to school in Thunder Bay. She married Dad in 1956 and they began their never-ending twists and turns of adventures. Together they raised a very active and loving family, while establishing and building the Hornets Hockey Club, as well as Al's Wonderland, and many other business ventures, always finding time for travel with family and friends to many destinations for fun and sun, especially to Florida, and maybe even taking in a little gambling.

Most of us saw Mom as an inspiration and a great Warrior, as she beat breast cancer, endured many health issues, including partial hearing loss, and then the loss of her sight… always with strength and never a complaint. Her many challenges never stopped her from anything, as her circle of friends grew. She often shared stories of good times with her many friends from the Mary Street neighbourhood, through her years with Hornets Hockey, T.O.P.S., Aquabics, Bingo bus trips, and more recently with her friends and neighbours at McKellar Place and Pinewood Court.

On behalf of Bev and her family, heartfelt thanks go out to her friends, her extended family and Dr's Sandoval, Shahbazi, Watson, Sadreddini, Janhunen, and most importantly the outstanding, compassionate and caring staff at Pinewood Court.

A Celebration of Life honouring Beverly Massaro will be held in October, near her birthday, when all grandchildren and great grandchildren can be together. Leaving us with laughter, love and such great inspiration and life lessons, we thank you Mom for all that you have given us.

You're so right, Mom: “Life is Wonderful”.

In lieu of flowers, donations to our Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, in Bev's memory, would be greatly appreciated.
