Brent Lindberg Obituary

June 12, 1959 -
January 21, 2022

We are saddened to announce the passing of Brent Lindberg. Brent was a well-loved brother, uncle, great uncle, and friend. He was known as Uncle Brent to both the Lindberg family and the family of Marc Lalonde.

Brent was born in Fort William and grew up in Westfort with his parents and five brothers. Brent attended Heath Park School and Westgate High School. He spent much of his childhood outdoors and was the designated fish and partridge cleaner for his brothers. Brent had a love for extreme sports. His younger years were spent skiing, water skiing and racing dirt bikes. Brent's passion for extreme sports continued by starting the Luge Club in Thunder Bay and promoting the sport in the region. He went on to win a bronze medal in the Canadian Championship and a silver medal in the U.S. Nationals for Luge.

Throughout his younger years Brent had many jobs, but his favourite was cooking at the Blade and Barrel. His experience at the Blade and Barrel ignited his passion for cooking, which he would go on to share with all his family and friends. In 1980, Brent started his career at the Great Lakes Mill. He worked in several positions starting off as General Labourer and working his way up to Day Crew Leader for Water Quality. He left the mill in 2013 and went to work as a Technician for Buckman until he retired in 2019. Brent took pride in his ability to problem solve and he was well respected.

Brent was an all-around handyman and built his dream home in the country. It was a perfect match for his love of the outdoors. He spent many years clearing trails in the back 40 with his good friend Rudy. He loved to bring his family and friends up the trails, and these trails continue to be enjoyed by many today. Brent had many fond memories hanging on the dock with the McCauley family out at Shebandowan Lake. He spent many days fishing Specs with his close friend Johnny. With the Lalonde family, he loved taking over their kitchen and helping their kids with endless projects.

One of his greatest joys came from being around his nephews, nieces and more recently his great-nieces and nephews. He could be found having a sauna at Trout Lake, hosting hot tub and pizza parties at his house, as well as imparting his wisdom while giving cooking lessons. Later on, he would make sure to take them for special lunch or dinner dates. With his great-nephews and nieces, he loved to give them big hugs and just watch them be kids while trying to influence them to take up his hobbies of dirt biking, quading and fishing. Throughout the years Brent cherished his time with the kids from his family and friends and helped to foster a love of the outdoors in them. Even as his health deteriorated he would instantly light up whenever he saw or talked about them.

Brent had a generous spirit and always wanted to give whether it be helping with a project or cooking a gourmet meal. Brent was stubborn, good hearted and had a dry wit. He gave a nickname to all his family and friends, whether they appreciated it or not. We will all miss him so much and his great niece Norah's prayer speaks to how we all feel; “We love you Uncle Brent and we hope we can give you a big hug in Heaven one day”.

He will be forever remembered and missed by his family; Terry and Anne Lindberg (Steve [Anna], Tim [Raven], Davy [Vanessa], Katrina), Gary and Bonnie Lindberg (Nathan [Anna], Geoff [Kari], Jeremy [Lexie], Jamie [Val]), Mark and Cathy Lindberg (Jon [Sara], Brandon [Yuka], Courtney [Philip]) and David Lindberg and Lori Parker (Connor, Camryn) and many great nieces and nephews. Also remembered and missed by his close friends, Marc and Linda Lalonde (Kelly [Mike], Mitch, Matt). He was predeceased by his parents, Don and Isabelle Lindberg and his brother Danny who he was very close to.

Many thanks to the first responders for their compassion and kindness as they supported the family through this time. And thanks Jordan. We appreciate the thoughtfulness of all involved.

Cremation has taken place as per Brent's wishes. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

So sad to hear the passing of Brent and offer my condolences to the family. I have many pleasant memories with Brent in my younger years living in TB. I was able to fish, hunt and dirt bike ride with Brent, he was a awesome guy to be around and I certainly enjoyed his sense of humour. He was always there to help if needed. We lost a great guy.

I was very sad to hear about Brent's passing at such a young age. I worked with him for many years at the mill. We shared a common interest in cars and motorcycles. Whenever I had a cool car in the shine shop, Brent would come by to see it. In this photo he is posing by a BMW. Buddy I hope you are riding the wildest bike out there.
Your friend, Joe

I am so sorry for this loss. Brent was a student of Rudy´s and in later years they became good friends, fishing, sailing and clearing trails together. He would often cook Swedish pancakes for us with his famous blueberry sauce. As Rudy struggled with Parkinson´s, Brent helped more and more with launching our sailboat. Our whole family mourns his passing.
