It is with profound sadness that his family announces the death of Brian Edward Arnold. The Brian we loved will be remembered fondly for his determination to make the world better. He was smart, friendly, funny, generous and loyal. He amassed a large group of friends because you couldn't know Brian without liking him. He was very outgoing and yet very private at the same time. Brian was a very enthusiastic Boy Scout and trained with the Volunteer Fire Department at Shebandowan. He wanted to provide service. He was delighted when his beloved Blue Jays reached the World Series last year and was the excitedly looking forward to the new season. He was a writer - songs, poetry or letters were thoughtful and sometimes deep. He loved music in all its varied forms. He was an excellent cook and loved to experiment with recipes. The completion of a course in welding at Confederation College was followed by a career in construction with various builders as well as briefly running his own company. He was always concerned about proper procedure on the jobsite and began to take courses in workplace safety. He worked as the Health and Safety Manager for major construction corporations across North-western Ontario developing programs and gaining certification required to permit those companies to bid on major publicly funded projects. Brian was proud of these accomplishments. For all his strengths he was vulnerable. The deaths of his mother and his best friend weighed heavily on him. He was battling various health issues and as requested by his surgeon he successfully lost a lot of weight and stopped smoking. Unfortunately this did not allow his pain to be resolved. Pain and disappointment grew into depression and this allowed old demons to reappear after many years of control. Sadly this relapse spiralled relentlessly downward eventually leading to his untimely death. Left with broken hearts are his father Ken (Loraine St. Jacques), brother Iain (Kayla) and sister Gillian. Grieving from afar are relatives in Northern Ireland, Texas and Australia. Brian was pre-deceased by his mother Melinda and his grandparents Doris and Ed Daignault of Sioux Lookout and Hazel and Brian Arnold of Northern Ireland. A funeral for Brian will be held in April at a date to be confirmed later. Should friends wish donations in Brian's name to the DEK Foundation or the Canadian Mental Health Association or the
Charity of Your Choice would be greatly appreciated.
