Bruce Hole Obituary

Bruce Cameron Hole passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 1, 2022 at the age of 79. Bruce was born on April 12, 1943 in Fort William, Ontario and lived all his life in Thunder Bay. Bruce started his career as a professional musician drumming with local jazz bands and international musicians in Thunder Bay and the U.S. This passion followed him through his entire life where he formed many long lasting friendships. Bruce was a member of Scouts Canada from a young age to later in life being involved with Scouts Ontario Council. He was instrumental in bringing the '97' Canadian Jambouree to Thunder Bay. Another talent of Bruce's was painting and the art of sign painting most notably the mural at the original Terry Fox Monument. Bruce was a lifelong member at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church being very much involved on committees, initiatives and as an Elder. Bruce's most memorable gig was at the Shoreline where he met his future bride, Ellen Cooper. Together they raised their three boys, David, Scott and Rob. They enjoyed playing music, camping, scouting and time spent at the family camp on Warnica Lake. Bruce will always be remembered for his genuine and caring nature towards family and friends. He was always willing to lend a hand, share a story, listen to others and had a sense of humour that kept people smiling. To Bruce, the glass was always half full, he saw the good in everyone and showed this with his positive spirit. Bruce is survived by his wife Ellen Hole, sons David (Tammy Lane), Scott (Judy) and Rob (Jennifer Wiseman), grandchildren Sean, Jeremiah, Kenny, Cameron, Aidan and Britton, cousin George McKay and brother in law Alec Cooper. He was predeceased by parents Fred and Ethel Hole, in laws Scotty and Ivy Cooper, cousin Murray Thornburrow and brother in law Ehrhard Nowak. Thank you to the team at the TBRHSC Cancer Care and the nurses from St. Elizabeth's Home Care, in Bruce's eyes, you are all "top shelf". Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In honour of Bruce, please consider offering a random act of kindness to someone in need or make a charitable contribution to the Northern Cancer Fund.

My deepest condolences to Bruce´s family on his loss. He played drums for our Finnish family band at the Finlandia Club or out at Surprise Lake. He was a fantastic drummer and a genuine nice guy. We always enjoyed our time with him. RIP Bruce.

Condolences to Ellen and the family on the passing of Bruce. My knowledge of he and Ellen was from St. Andrews where they were truly a team involved in every aspect of the Church. First met Bruce when I graduated from Sunday School and he was one of the leaders of the Good Companions youth group. He always had a music story to tell me every week with his usual wit. He will be missed by all who knew him especially his family.
