CAMERON BURGESS Obituary

April 25, 1949 ~ June 28, 2025
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Cameron Burgess on Saturday June 28, 2025 at Hogarth Riverview Manor.

In 2005, Cam met the love of his life Bev; they were inseparable. On July 9, their love story would have seen them celebrating their 20 year anniversary of being together, and 9 years of marriage. Cam and Bev enjoyed travelling, dancing and attending concerts involving Daylin James and The Sensational Hot Rods. His personality was very laid back, he would walk into a room and his smile and kindness were contagious. Nothing brought him more joy, then to see others happy and he always had a dad joke to share to brighten someones day. His summers were spent walking his fur babies, hiking with his family, fishing, feeding the birds and the chippies and spraying the kids with the hose. In the winter months, Cam was found either watching or playing curling, was an avid movie goer and had a love for reading books.

Cams passion and dedication was unmistakable through his career with the MNO, where he participated on multiple boards and projects. After he retired as the Regional 2 Councillor in 2020, he embraced the time that he had with the ones he loved most.

Cam will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his best friend and the love of his life, his wife Bev. Also surviving are their children, grandkids, great grandkids, siblings, nephews and his fur babies Neli and Sophie.

Thank you to the staff on 3N at HRM who helped keep him comfortable for the past 8 months. I also want to express my deepest gratitude to Marcie, for the unwavering love, care, and support throughout this journey.

As per Cams wishes, cremation will take place. No service will be held at this time.

My sincere condolences to Bev and family. I met Cam through work but quickly became friends. Cam was a huge "Elvis" fan and on a road trip Cam insisted on listening to the Elvis channel on Sirius radio all the way. I thought I could change the channel when he fell asleep but he would jump up and ask what I was doing? I appreciate all his work to represent Metis people and his help to promote my career. He will be missed.

My friendship with Cam started in 2009. He was always the first to make me feel welcome, first to show his appreciation, and first to share a joke when a room would go quiet. I don't think I ever heard the same joke twice! You will be missed, but never forgotten my friend.

My heartfelt condolences to Bev and the Burgess family.
