Carl Bostrom Obituary
Carl Richard Allan Bostrom of Thunder Bay passed away peacefully at his residence at the untimely age of 60 on June 11, 2007. A lifetime resident of Thunder Bay, Rick attended local schools Hammorskjold High School, Confederation College and L.U. and always believed a mind was not something to be wasted, also looking for something more to learn. Active in many sports, he played high school football and later for the Port Arthur Mustangs. He enjoyed skiing and racquet sports, but could be seen most of the time "tooling" around town on his bike. He made sure early on to teach his children the importance of self education evolvement to better themselves. He also made sure to instill a sense of pride for his family's Scandinavian heritage. Rick was a man of all trades and knew how to fix or fashion almost anything. In the last year he approached his amputation and health battles with an enduring and accepting spirit. He wasn't afraid to ask for what he wanted and say what he meant. He was self reliant but loved company and good conversation. Goodnight sweet Dadeeji we will never forget the things you taught us and the good times we shared. Predeceased by mother Mae Bostrom January 1986 and father Allan Bostrom July 2006. He will be sadly missed by loving daughter Kristen (Nathan) and son Kyle (Claudia) as well as siblings Carol McLeod, Judy Hurley (Doug), Ray Bostrom (Marg), Brenda Wing (Bruce), Ron Bostrom (Valerie) and Candice Bostrom as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A quiet private family send off will take place for Richard at a later time, but friends are invited to join in a celebration of his life on Friday, June 22, from 3-5pm in the Common Room at 201 Ravenwood Ave. In respect to Richard and his Viking Heritage, recall the gods here today to witness the passing of one of our kin. From Midguard (Earth). May they all take note that today a great person has died; Carl Richard Allan Bostrom. May Heimdall guide him on his journey across the Bifrost Bridge."
