Carl Hanlon Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carl (Bud) Hanlon, age 81 years on Wed, May 18th, 2016 at his residence in Edson, Alberta. Born on September 7, 1934 in Saskatoon, SK to Joseph and Emma Hanlon, he was raised in various parts of Canada. Bud, like his father and brothers, was a trucker by trade. He was involved in all aspects of the trucking business from hauling logs, to highway driving to ice road trucking from self employment to working for others to managing a service station. Left to mourn his passing is his wife Betty; his son Joe; his daughters, Carol, Marie (Everett), and Terri (George); as well as his stepson Donny; stepdaughter Sandra (Sandy) and his brother Ken. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends as well as his beloved dog Turbo. Carl was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Emma; his daughter Janice; daughter-in-law Sharon and his brother Dan. Following cremation, a memorial service was held on Monday, May 23rd, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the Foothills Memorial Chapel, 5040-6th Avenue, Edson, Alberta. Interment will take place in Thunder Bay at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, donations, if desired may be directed to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta or Ontario in memory of Carl William Hanlon.
