CARL MAKI Obituary

Carl William Maki age 69 years passed away at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, December 26, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. Carl worked at the Can Car factory in Fort William, Ontario. He changed careers a few years later and was a Real Estate salesperson for various brokers, also becoming a broker himself. During this period he ventured into another business, Real Estate Appraisal. Carl worked at Appraisal Group Thunder Bay Inc. for over 18 years until he retired in 2021. He was an active member in a pool league and travelled to many tournaments. Carl was also a dedicated car enthusiast, who bought and sold many cars and loved NASCAR and NHRA racing. He spent many happy weekends and vacations travelling out of town to races with friends. Carl was a cat lover and he provided a home to a number of feline companions over the years. Carl was predeceased by his son Cody in 2008 and sister Evelyn Ide in 2014. Sadly missed by his "adopted family", Sharon Rayner,
Dave Baraskewich, Cassie, Rob and Bryce Meservier, Lloyd Rayner and niece Laura Ide Ojala (Scott), great niece Tegan and great nephew Spencer and his best friend Alex Szczomak. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in Carl's honour to the Kitty Care Cat Rescue, or any animal rescue centre of choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.

I am very sorry to hear Carl passed away. We were life long friends from attending Algonquin school to walking to Hammarskjold high every day.Then after school we would head down to the city rec. to play snookertill closing time. Carl was a good man and i will miss him dearly . Rest in peace buddy

Going to miss my good friend Carl.
Spent countless hours playing pool with him over the years and we had a lot of laughs. We had a number of trips to the Valley and BCA 8 Ball tournaments in Las Vegas.
