Carl Wesley Moffatt died Sunday, November 23rd, 2025, at St. Joseph's Hospital with family by his side. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on December 16th, 1962, the second son of Kenneth and June Moffatt. His family moved to Thunder Bay in 1965 where he completed his schooling and graduated from Fort William Collegiate. During his high school years, Carl found great enjoyment and success playing hockey and football. He had particular fun with his group of football teammates known as the 'Killer Bees'. Carl was able to continue playing hockey at the varsity level at Lakehead University where he studied to become a teacher. Football was a lifelong passion for Carl. He attended many Grey Cups and was well known for his elaborate Grey Cup parties. He also loved motorcycles. After university, he took a three-month trip through the United States with his friend Steve Wakewich, and in recent years rode to Tuktoyaktuk and back with his friend James Woodyard. Carl raised four wonderful children Marina, Melody, Lars, and Carsten with now ex-wife Diana Stenlund. He taught in the Toronto and Sudbury areas before settling down in Bruce Mines and Sault Ste. Marie. After retiring from teaching, Carl briefly worked in the hardware business before returning to his passion of teaching and following his desire for adventure to remote Northern B.C. Carl found love again in Tsay Keh Dene, B.C. with Kailee Moir. Together they taught at the local school and enjoyed hiking and the outdoors every chance they had. He became the vice principal of Tsay Keh Dene School before his career was interrupted in spring 2024, when he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Carl and Kailee moved back to Thunder Bay to continue his treatment closer to family. Left to mourn his death are his loving partner, Kailee Moir; children, Marina (Colton), Melody, Lars (Dakota), and Carsten, and their mother, Diana Stenlund; grandchildren, Henri and Sophie; father, Ken Moffatt; sister, Barbara Young (Murray); brother, Jim Moffatt; stepsister, Donna Farr; brother-in-law, Gary Estey (Claudette); nieces, Paula (Allan) and Karly; nephew, Kenton, and many friends.
