CARL ALLEN O'CONNOR
With profound sadness we announce the passing of our Dear Old Dad, husband, Grandad and good friend to many, Carl Allen O'Connor, at the age of 83 on December 19, 2025. Carl passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay, Ontario with loved ones at his side. Carl was born in Dartmouth, NS and spent most of his adult life in Toronto and King Township. He always held a special place in his heart for the east coast and would visit his extensive family there often. Carl was known for his passion for hunting and fishing and for his many hobbies. He was an avid fly fisherman, rod builder, and fly tyer. Carl went on many fishing trips; to BC, Labrador, and Iceland for salmon, lake fish, or his favorite, fly fishing for rainbow trout in the local rivers that he so loved. He hosted many fly-tying nights for the boys, organized and partook in fishing conventions, and wrote many articles as a subject matter expert. Carl was a lifelong hunter and raised his dogs to retrieve skillfully. Hunting took Carl to Sweden and all over Canada, and he never came home empty handed. Carl was a skilled mechanical contractor, licensed plumber, handyman, guitar player and singer, craftsman, woodworker, golfer, alpine skier, tennis and squash player. He made friends everywhere he went and always had a good joke to share. Carl was a wonderful husband to Joanne, father to Noel (Cristina), Jordan, and Nicole (Lee) and Grandad to Spencer, Riley, Sydney and Ivy. Carl was loved by many, and his easy smile, stories, good nature, optimism, and sense of humour will be dearly missed. A private family service will follow.
