CAROL ANNE CARDY
Carol Anne Cardy (Powshik), born November 24, 1949, in Brandon, Manitoba, passed away on December 16, 2024, at the age of 75 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Carol will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her feisty personality, quick witted sense of humor, love for family, and the outdoors.
Carol married the love of her life Allan Cardy on June 27, 1970, they were married 54 years. Together, they spent most of their time in the outdoors raising their son's Ryan and Neal. Carol had a love for hunting, fishing, trapping, and being out in nature. Carol and Al could often be found camping or portaging into secret fishing spots, spending summers on White Otter Lake, and speckled trout fishing on her favorite lake, Lake Nipigon. In the fall, Carol spent much of her time on the trapline hunting moose and trapping into the winter months with her husband. The two of them were inseparable.
Carol dedicated nearly four decades to the Lakehead District School Board, where she started in data entry and various secretarial roles before retiring as the head secretary from PACI after 17 years. Carol was known for her hard work, dedication, and enjoyed interacting with students and colleagues alike, often impressing everyone with pictures and stories from her latest adventure.
Carol was well-known in the outdoors community for her active participation in the Northwestern Fur Trapper's Association. She proudly served on their Ladies Auxiliary, promoting women and families to get out hunting, fishing, and trapping. Carol loved to play cards, socialize with friends, dance a polka, and always looked forward to her trips to the casino. She was a fantastic cook, with many secret recipes including her famous chip dip that she would gift to friends. Carol always knew how to live life to the fullest.
Carol leaves behind her devoted husband, Allan Cardy, and her cherished sons, Ryan (Sarah)
Cardy and Neal (Katie) Cardy, her grandchildren Ryder, Laikynn, Keegan, Gabriella and Reese. She is also survived by her brother, Gary Powshik, sister-in-law, Colleen Powshik, nieces, nephews, and close family friends all of whom will carry her loving spirit forward.
