Carol Harding Obituary

Carol Helen Harding (Baran), age 79 years, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on October 24, 2022.

Carol was predeceased by husband Bert Harding and daughter Paula Jane. She is survived by daughters Amanda Harding (Craig Spakowski) of Winnipeg, Samantha (Christopher) Mudiappahpillai of Toronto, and grandchildren Sylvia and Ezra.

Carol was born on July 22, 1943 in Welland, Ontario to Samuel and Anne Baran. She was raised with sister Olga on Norah St. in Fort William and attended the local Teacher's College to train as a kindergarten teacher. After some time working with the Catholic School Board, Carol and Bert met and were wed at St. Michael's and All Angels Anglican Church in 1972. The church was a centrepiece of their life together.

After a few years of marriage, she set her formal teaching years behind to care for home and family while continuing to offer her talents to her community. For over 20 years, she volunteered with kindergarten teacher and friend Vicky Ketonen. She was an active member of St. Michael's, over the years teaching and directing Sunday School, singing in the choir, helping in the kitchen, ACW activities, and always lending a hand where needed. She was a dedicated knitting group friend and used her skills to create hundreds of bears for Doctors Without Borders.

She took pride in raising her two daughters and seeing them pursue their dreams. With them she shared many things but especially her skills in crafting, love of reading, and wisdom to always check the dessert table first.

In the past few years after Bert passed away, she enjoyed visits with her daughters and grandchildren. Through the pandemic she kept regular tea times and walking dates with dear friends. She will be remembered for her faithfulness, willingness to help others, and her kind listening ear.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 26 at St. Michael's and All Angels Anglican Church. Cremation has taken place and interment will be held in the spring.

If desired, in expression of sympathy, donations may be made to St. Michael's & All Angels Church or the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Foundation.
