CATHERINE ALLAM Obituary

CATHERINE JOYCE ALLAM
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Catherine (Cathy) Joyce Allam, nee Slasor on January 11, 2024. Cathy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 23, 1940, to Robert and Lily Slasor. Cathy, had 2 brothers, Bob and Rick and 2 sisters, Shirley and Patricia. On May 20, 1961, Cathy married the one true love of her life Harold Allam. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Fort William, Ontario, buying their forever home, where Cathy remained for over 50 years and had four beautiful children. Cathy worked for the Ontario Provincial Government as a Deputy Mining Recorder retiring in 2002.

Cathy's passions included spending time with her family, at the cabin on Graham Lake; for over 50 years she made the trek to camp where she could be found enjoying the outdoors, partaking in fishing trips, relaxing at a bonfire. She found picking blue berries to be a gratifying pastime and she continuously outdid herself, whipping up a blue berry delight or banana pancakes for her grand kids. She also loved doing yardwork, or famously "I am just tidying things up." She was an avid animal lover and for many years it was common for her to have a houseful of fury friends. She also enjoyed her quiet time where she would work endlessly on her petit pointe or rug hookings. Cathy fancied walks with the dogs, a perfectly manicured lawn, and watching her flower baskets bloom. In the early years as a zealous sports fan, she was known to frequent the hockey, ringette rinks, and football fields as she cheered on her favourite athletes; her children, later in life this affection turned to her precious grandchildren.

Cathy is survived by her sons Dan (Adrienne), Don (Cheryl) daughter Karen and five grandchildren, Taylor, Nicole, Chase, Kayne and Mellissa, three great grandchildren: Karlee, Karter, Braysen, brother Richard and sister Patricia. Cathy is predeceased by her husband Harold, son Michael, father Robert, mother Lily, brother Bob and sister Shirley.

To honour Cathy's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to the Thunder Bay Humane Society, Canadian Cancer Society and or Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Forever in our hearts, forever cherished. On line condolences may be offered at: www.jenkens-funeral.ca

Sending condolences to the Allam family. We were neighbours of Cathy on Donald Street and her obituary describes her perfectly, she always tended to her lawn and her flowers and loved her dogs. May she rest in peace, I´m sure the family will miss her terribly but will have lots of precious memories of her, they were a very close family.
