GOSSELIN (nee Daoust) November 22, 1948 - September 14, 2025
It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Catherine (Cathy) Gladys Gosselin (nee Daoust), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Cathy was born on November 22, 1948, to Ben and Bea Daoust. From an early age, Cathy shared a close bond with her family and would grow into a woman of remarkable strength, loyalty, and quiet determination. Cathy met the love of her life, Joseph (Joe) Gosselin, at a young age-brought together through the close friendship of their families. Their connection was instant and enduring. United by their shared love of music, Cathy and Joe attended countless concerts, creating memories they would carry for a lifetime. Their relationship blossomed into an inseparable partnership that would span more than five decades. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. They travelled extensively sharing countless trips with family and friends, and treasured summer weekends at her parent's camp on Shebandowan Lake. These times-filled with sunshine, laughter, and togetherness-remain among our most cherished memories. Cathy was a proud and devoted mother to Chantal Warner (Sean) and Kris. She found immense joy in being "Nana" to her grandsons Jordan Gosselin (Kristina), Turner Santin (Dayna) and Cale Santin, and was blessed to become "Great Nana" to Noa, Lucy, and Calder Gosselin. Her grandsons held a very special place in her heart-she lit up hearing about their lives, celebrating their accomplishments, and treasuring every moment and memory made with them. Cathy's professional life reflected the same dedication and warmth she brought to her family. She worked for Bell Canada for over 30 years, where she built not just a career, but many lifelong friendships. After a short retirement, Cathy went on to work nearly a decade at NOSM University Medical School, finally retiring in 2015 alongside Joe with dreams of enjoying more time with loved ones and travelling together. In 2020, Cathy and Joe celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary they planned a trip to St. Maarten. The trip was postponed due to COVID and were finally able to take the trip in 2022. This celebration marked a golden milestone in their enduring love story. They would have celebrated 55 years of marriage this coming October. Just three years after retiring, Cathy was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Though the diagnosis brought new challenges, Cathy's unwavering strength and quiet resolve never faltered. She faced every step of her journey with courage and grace, determined not to just fight the illness, but to continue being the devoted wife, mother, daughter, and grandmother that she always was. Even during her own health battles, Cathy remained a constant and loving presence in the lives of those around her. She spent countless hours caring for her beloved mother, Beatrice, visiting her daily at Hogarth-playing crib, going for coffee, enjoying meals out, and ensuring she had everything she needed. Cathy's devotion to her mother was a testament to her deep sense of loyalty and love. It was in these everyday acts of care that her true character shone-strong, selfless, and quietly compassionate. Though she didn't always wear her emotions on her sleeve, Cathy's actions spoke volumes. Her love for her family was limitless and enduring. Even in her final days, her thoughts remained with those she loved most-especially Joe. Her last spoken words to Chantal were filled with concern for his well-being, a reminder that true love has no boundaries even at life's end. One of the most profound moments in her final days was meeting and holding her newborn great-grandson, Calder-a wish she had expressed many times. That moment was a gift, both to her and to us. Cathy's strength, resilience, and deep love will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know her. We extend heartfelt thanks to the close friends and family that visited Cathy in her last days-your presence brought comfort to her, Joe, and Chantal. Our sincere gratitude goes to the staff at Thunder Bay Regional Cancer Centre, Nakita, Dr. Sellick, and the compassionate nurses of 1A at TBRHSC for the exceptional care, empathy, and kindness you showed during Cathy's illness and final weeks. Your support will never be forgotten. A special thank you to Cathy's brother Len Daoust for being with her and us through her journey and as she took her final breath. Your quiet but strong demeanor is so very loved by us all. Arrangements have been entrusted to Northwest Funeral Alternative. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 19th at the Knights of Columbus at 1:00 p.m. 301 May St. S. where we will gather to honour Cathy's life, legacy, and the love she gave so freely.
