KRUEGER
It is with deep sadness that the family of Catherine Dona Krueger announce her peaceful passing on March 6, 2026.
Born on January 16, 1930, she was the middle child of Arthur and Delia Meyer. It was a chance encounter at a hockey game that Catherine met the love of her life, Ernest Krueger. They married in 1951 and later welcomed two children, Donna and David.
Catherine attended North Bay Normal School to become a teacher, a profession that she loved. She fondly recalled many of her former students names and enjoyed meeting them while shopping.
Whether it was as a classroom teacher or a teacher/librarian with the Catholic school board, Catherine always enjoyed finding new ways to help her students. Retiring in 1989, she was always surprised that she was retired longer than she taught. This allowed her to enjoy her love of travel and exploration whether it was to Cocoa Beach, China, Europe or the Caribbean. She also enjoyed reading especially with her book club.
She is survived by daughter Donna (Wolfgang) Gradner and son David (Johane) Krueger. She also leaves Derek Gradner (Andrea Lajoie); Ian Gradner (Rachel, Hunter, Faith); Amanda (Chad) Morningstar, (Josh, Mackenzie, Garrett); Matthew Krueger; Justin Krueger and Ryan Krueger (Ivy). As the matriarch of the Meyer family she is survived by her sister Theresa McIntyre; her brother Hugh (Sylvia) Meyer; her sister-in-law Berna Meyer and many nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by many dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest; parents Arthur and Delia Meyer; siblings Mary (Frank) Leonard, Father Francis (Bud) Meyer, Marguerite (William) Melita, Arthur J Meyer.
The family would like to extend thanks to the 3A and Emergency staff at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for the compassionate care shown to Catherine and family during her stay.
Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be held on March 26, 2026 at 12:00 pm at St Agnes Church on Brown St. The mass will be live streamed at
