Our hearts are broken as we all mourn the sudden passing of our beautiful and beloved sister, Catherine who died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 9th, 2023 in Humber River Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. Catherine was born one sunny day on January 1, 1959 in Fort William, Ontario where she was raised along with her three older siblings by her parents in a loving family home. Catherine was an incredible sister, daughter, cousin, niece, aunt and friend who lived her life in a big way, full of love and laughter. Everyone and everything in Catherine's life had great meaning to her and she treasured all of it. Catherine will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her sister, Marianne Margarit-Zuliani; brothers, David and Brian Margarit; niece and nephews, Nicole, Trevor and Corey Margarit; niece Tanya Carriero & family; and nephew, Brian Margarit & family. She was predeceased by her parents, Orfeo (1999) and Maria Gina (2022). There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to have had her dearest friends, Phillip and Paul, who were by Catherine's side, lovingly embracing her on the night of her passing. A very special thank you to the ICU doctor who graciously held his cell phone to Catherine's ear so that she could hear her sister Marianne's voice comforting her. A Celebration of Life will be held in Toronto for all her friends and extended family. There will be an additional Celebration of Life and final Blessing with her family and friends in Thunder Bay, Ontario TBA. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, where Catherine will be laid to rest with her loving parents as per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society or to the SPCA.

My condolences to the Margarit Family. Also to Philip and Paul I met them at the hospital. I was Catherine´s chemotherapy buddy and her strength and positivity got me through my own treatment and dark times coping. She was such a fighter. After treatment we kept in touch and shared cancer and health surveillance stories. She was full of light. I will miss her.

Dear Marianne, Brian and David, I was heartbroken to hear of your sister´s passing. As you know, we only recently reconnected after decades since we last saw each other. I was incredibly lucky to have spent several wonderful afternoons with her in Port Credit over the past few months. My mother loved her as did I. Her incredible warmth and joyous spirit were infectious. As she always said, we were family. The three of us celebrated Catherine´s birthday on the first day of this year. It was very special. My deepest sympathies.

My deepest condolences to the Margarit family.
Cathy was one of a kind with the greatest laugh and bubbly personality.
A group of us went for dinner that last time she was in town. A great evening of reminiscing, laughter and plans for when she was moving back to Thunder Bay.
Cathy & I laughed at some of the stuff we did together back in the day.
Her passing will leave a huge void with family & friends.
Deepest sympathy.

Our deepest condolences to the Margarit Family. Cathy had such a vibrant personality and a big heart. We have fond memories of playing baseball together and especially the post game festivities. She always brightened our day with her signature laugh.

Marianne, Brian, David and families
I myself was so shocked and heartbroken to hear of Catherine's passing. Was so great to reconnect with her and was looking forward to her retiring back home to Tbay. We had some great visits the last couple of years when she came home, her laugh the same as I remember from high school she will be missed.
My deepest condolences to the whole family.

To Marianne and the Margarit Family:
I was saddened to learn of the unexpected passing of your sister, Cathy. Although I hadn´t seen her in a long while, I still have memories of her and your family. Growing up in the East End, everyone knew everyone and our families got to know each other, especially from our days at St. Peter´s School. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Cathy may be gone but never forgotten.
