Charles Johnson Obituary

Peacefully, with his family by his side at Hamilton General Hospital, on Saturday, May 18, 2002, Charles Merritt Johnson of Beamsville and formerly of Smithville and Fonthill, in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Claire (Garon) for 25 years. Loving dad of Rose Scott of Welland, Lorrie (and Al) Scott of Stevensville, Paul (and Bonnie) Johnson of Thunder Bay, Paul Garon of Smith Falls, Gilles (and Robin) Garon of Niagara Falls, Rose (and Earl) Lane of Caistor Centre and Albert (and Shirley) Garon of Tillsonburg. He was a proud grandpa of 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Charles is also survived by sisters Delora Juhlke and Marjorie (and Bill) Garside, his brother Earl (and June) Johnson, sisters-in-law Doris Wenner and Margaret Miklas and brother-in-law John (and Barbara) Borkovsky, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Mary (Brokovsky), daughter Gloria, parents Nathan and Nellie Johnson, brother David, brother-in-law Elwood Juhlke, nephew David Johnson and grandson David Lane. He will also be sadly missed by his pets 'Duster' and 'Boots'. Charles was a long-time employee of Union Carbide and devoted member of Grassie Gospel Church. Friends may call at the Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00pm. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at 2:00pm at Grassie Gospel Church. Interment Maple Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Grassie Gospel Church would be appreciated by the family."
