Charles Kivari Obituary

With sorrow, his family announces the death of Charles Kivari, aged 78 years, who passed away peacefully at Lakehead Manor on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, with his family by his side. Charlie was born in Rainy River, Ontario to Ely and Tynne Kivari and was raised in the community of Finland, Ontario in Chapple Municipality. In 1953 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Hadley in Atikokan, Ontario where they spent their first 50 years of married life. Charlie was employed by Steep Rock Iron Mines until its closure in 1978. His remaining working years were with Atikokan Township Public Works Dept. Shortly after retirement, Charlie and Phyllis moved to Thunder Bay. Charlie was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed gardening and had a great love of music. He played most of the stringed instruments, his favorite being the standup bass. He also crafted a violin, one of his many hobbies. Charlie is survived by Phyllis, his loving wife of 60 years; two sons Randall (Jane) Kivari of Thompson, Manitoba (enroute) and Michael (Terry Lynn) Kivari of Red Rock, Ontario (enroute); two daughters Carla Toxopeus and Jill Kivari (Gary); several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Ely and Tynne; brothers Marty and Tauno and sisters Elsie and Maimie. A memorial service for Charles Kivari will be held on Monday, May 27, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Jenkens Funeral Home, 226 S. Syndicate Avenue, with a luncheon to follow in the Jenkens Reception Centre. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
