Mr. Clarence Wellington Pratt, aged 97 years, passed away peacefully February 14, 2011 in TBRHSC. A lifetime resident of Thunder Bay, Clarence married Edna Coleman in 1939, they raised two sons and a daughter. Edna and Clarence enjoyed travelling in younger years, camping and fishing on Lake Nipigon for many years. Employed at Great Lakes Paper since 1936, attaining positions of machinist, shop foreman in 1956, millwright foreman for the kraft mill in 1965, then to assistant mechanic supervisor in 1970, retiring in 1978. A Veteran of World War II, 1940-1945, he served in the navy, stationed in Halifax and surrounding area. Clarence was an engine room artificer on the "Louisburg" and the "Montreal." Survived by children Milton (Pat), Lynne (Bill) Kuzmych; grandchildren Tere Valente, Penny Ellard, Clarence Pratt, Kevin Pratt, Paula O'Sullivan, Todd Pratt, Tracey Kuzmych, Milton Pratt, Teddy Pratt and Sean Pratt; 13 great grandchildren and brother-in-law George (Marge) Coleman. Predeceased by his wife Edna; son Clifford; daughter-in-law Velma; grandson Clifford; parents Fred and Olive; one brother and six sisters. Cremation has taken place and as per Clarence's wishes, there will be no service. Interment will take place in Mountain View Cemetery at a later date.
