Mr. Claudio Mottin passed away peacefully at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with family by his side on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. Claudio was born on May 30, 1936 in Pasiano, Pordenone, Italy. He came to Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada in 1957, where he began his contracting career with Gateway Contractors. Claudio met his wife, Bruna, that same year, and they were married on August 6, 1960. They would travel together often to visit family in Italy. Claudio loved fishing, camping and hunting, as well as bowling. He enjoyed playing bocce ball and card games at the Da Vinci Centre, of which he was a long-time member. Claudio was also a long-time parishioner of St. Dominic's Church. Claudio is survived by his wife, Bruna (nee. Bertolin), son Alex Mottin, daughters Lori Mottin and Nancy (Bert) Despres, son-in-law Brian Belbas; grandchildren Nicole, Kayla, Bradley, Amanda, Leah, Nolan, Brayden and Chase; great-grandchildren Jayden and Mya, Zia Regina Mottin, two sisters in Italy, Gina and Elida, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, Alessandro and Zoe Mottin, in-laws Mario and Teresa Bertolin, daughter Rita Belbas, son John Mottin, grandson Mitchell Mottin, and brother-in-law Franco Bertolin. Services for Claudio will be held privately for family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre would be appreciated.
