CLELIA MORSON Obituary

CLELIA MORSON October 9, 1919 ~ March 24, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving mother and nonna, Clelia Morson (nee Favret), who passed peacefully at Southbridge Roseview on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 with her loving granddaughter Jennifer Hordy by her side at the remarkable age of 106 years.

Clelia was born in Bannia, Italy in 1919, and came to Canada in 1950 with her family who then settled in the East End of Thunder Bay. She dedicated her life to raising her family, ensuring anyone who came over were treated with a classic Italian welcome. Coffee, cakes, homemade pasta. When Clelia was not cooking or cleaning, she could be found sitting on her sofa crocheting and watching the Italian channel on mute. Her Roman Catholic faith was strong and she enjoyed spending time at St. Peters Church and walking the back lane of McBain Street.

Clelia is survived by her daughter Cecilia Zuccato (Giovanni) of Mississauga; daughter-in-law Liliana of Italy; grandchildren Lorella (Chantal, Elisa) and Rita (Virginia, Amelia) of Italy, Jerry and Ronnie (Veronica, Madison, Sydney) of Toronto, Aaron and Chelsey (Reilah, Avaiya) of Edmonton and Jennifer (Gage, Presley) of Thunder Bay.

Predeceased by her husband Egisto, son Secondo, daughter Lauretta and grandson Scott Hordy.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 10:00 am in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church (615 Connolly Street). Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will take place in Mountainview Cemetery, where Clelia will be laid to rest with her husband and daughter.

The family would like to extend a special thank you and our deepest gratitude to Clelia's granddaughter, Jennifer for not only being with Nonna at the end of her life but for the love and care she's shown our beloved mother and nonna for many years before.

We would also like to extend our appreciation to Magdalena Vitaskova for helping take care of Clelia, ensuring that she could stay at home until the ripe old age of 102 and to the staff at Southbridge Roseview (Heritage) who took such good care of Nonna.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
