Coreen O'Connor Obituary

Mrs. Coreen Renee O'Connor, age 51 years, passed away peacefully in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 with family by her side.

Coreen was born in Baudette, Minnesota on January 10, 1967. She graduated from the Registered Nursing Assistant Course in Thunder Bay in 1986 and went to work at Hogarth-Westmount Hospital and then St. Joseph's. Coreen was passionate about her career and truly loved caring for people.

She was a truly remarkable woman and will be deeply missed by all of her family and many friends.

Coreen is survived by her husband, Kenny O'Connor; son Tyler, daughter Paige and step-son Kenny; mother Gayleen Szlauko (nee Gunderson) and father William Szlauko; brother Robert Szlauko; sister Sandy (Tim) Spence; brother-in-law Dennis (Shelley) O'Connor; sister-in-law Kelly Wilson (Stephen) as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Coreen will also be missed by her furry companion Scooby.

She was predeceased by her grandparents and brother-in-law Patrick O'Connor.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for all of their care and compassion. Thank you as well to all of Coreen's amazing nursing friends for their support and love shown to all of our family.

Funeral Services and a Celebration of Coreen's Life will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 11:00am in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James with Rev. Randy Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Mountainview Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 6:00pm until 8:00pm in the Chapel.

Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Coreen to George Jeffrey Children's Foundation.

I worked at Hogarth-Westmountmany years agand knew Coreen well. She always had a smile and a few jokes when I seen her. Such an upbeat person gone too soon. My condolences to her family.

My condolences to all of Coreen's family.I worked with this wonderful woman many years ago at Hogarth Westmount. She was always a joy to work with. Her sense of humor carried us through some tough shifts and she was an excellent nurse.Gone too young.

I worked with Coreen many years ago at Hogarth Westmount Hospital as well as St.Joes ..She was one in a million always joking and keeping everyone laughing.She was kind caring and compassionate which made her a good nurse .She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be missed by many .RIP Coreen,you left us way too soon Heaven has gained a beautiful soul.My condolances to all her family
