DANIEL SHOTT Obituary
Daniel Shott (Shotzy), 68 years old, passed away in his sleep on Monday, July 7, 2025.
Dan was born July 29, 1956 in Port Arthur. He was a loyal and funny friend, brother, cousin, nephew, husband, dad, and grandpa to Calvin and Avery. He enjoyed time at football games, concerts, and any other family event he could get to.
In his younger years he enjoyed spending time with his siblings and cousins at the family farm in Pearson. He played softball, baseball, and was a trophy winning bowler. He was amazing at trivia, enjoyed an evening at the bar enjoying a drink, singing karaoke, and entertaining everyone. He loved gardening and was a true and true Leafs fan.
Dan knew how to throw a party, with all the food, drinks and jokes you could think of. He loved to barbecue and cook for family and friends. The last supper he prepared was barbequed steak for himself and Cheryl.
Dan worked as a Handyman at the City of Thunder Bay Water Treatment Plant for over 35 years and enjoyed the many friends he made along the way. He retired early due to poor health. During his retirement, he became an avid crib player at a number of places, including West Thunder, 55 Plus and with his friend Bill.
Dan is survived by his daughter Laura (Damon); son DJ (Kathleen); grandchildren Calvin and Avery; wife Cheryl; stepdaughter Jessica (Jay); sister Dee (Calvin); aunt Sandra; brothers-in-law Brian and John (Cindy) and his two cats Nina and Squishy. Also left to mourn are many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dan was predeceased by his mother Elsie; father Peter; brother Peter; sisters Susan and MaryAnne; father and mother in-law Bunny and Maxine; uncle Fred Wirta; uncle Fred, and Aunt Jean.
Funeral Services for Daniel Shott will be held in the R. Leino Memorial Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre on Wednesday, July 16 at 1:00 pm. Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior. Those that wish to share a memory of Dan, will have the opportunity to do so.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Kidney Foundation or the Charity of Your Choice.

Dearly missed! Danny was awesome. I first met and became friends with him in elementary school (Algonquin). By chance we reunited at Provincial Papers and with him having more work experience at the mill, he mentored me for a while and if you knew Danny, he was always making people laugh. My condolences to his family, friends and former co-workers. Rest well Danny!

To my dear family, I´m devastated for the loss of my cousin Danny. He was always the funniest man I ever knew and I feel so much sorrow for him complete family. He is now with his momma and daddies.. may this be some comfort.

I met Dan as a young lad working in a warehouse early 90's. He'd pick up supplies for the city. Definitely an unforgettable character. Always upbeat with a smile on his face. Still bumped into him 35 years later and had short chats with him. Thanks for the memories. Condolences to family and friends.

I meet Dan when I worked day shift at Robins on May st.He was quite the trickster at times. He was such a nice and respectful man and will be missed by many . Condolences to the family . Rip Dan
