DARCY TUOMI Obituary

January 19, 1973 - December 9, 2023
It is with profound sadness that the family of Darcy Edward Tuomi announce his sudden passing on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 50 years of age. Born in Thunder Bay, Ontario to parents Anita (nee Rintamaki) and Dennis Tuomi. Darcy was predeceased by his Mother Anita Tuomi and father-in-law Arthur Joseph. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years Julie Tuomi (nee Joseph), His three children Mitchell Tuomi (Emma & Ryan), Shae-Lyn Tuomi (Owen) and Rianna Tuomi all of Winnipeg, MB. He is also survived by his father Dennis Tuomi (Kathy) of Thunder Bay, ON, his mother-in-law Susan Joseph of Nipigon, and his siblings Steven Tuomi (Karen) of Thunder Bay, ON, Tracy Chuckrey (Scott) of Meadow Lake, SK, and sister Shelley Tuomi (Ted) of Thunder Bay, ON. His brother-in-laws Terence Joseph (Susan) of Thunder Bay, ON, and Patrick Joseph of Thunder Bay, ON. His nieces & nephews: Colten (Carly), Shelden, Nicole (Jonathan), Cory-Lynn (Austin), Maddie, Ryan, Lexi, Kyle, Brennan, Megan, Madisyn, Ryan, Cassidy and Cambrya. Darcy especially enjoyed spending time with his Great Nieces and Nephews: Jari, Deegan, Ava, Kai and Mckensley. Many family and friends also survive. Darcy found the love of his life Julie at Lakehead University where they were both studying Business. Shortly after they married in 1995 they began building their life together. Darcy was happiest when he was spending time with his kids and those that were close to him and his family. He loved camping, fishing, and when it was sauna time. Most of his family knew Darcy as D-Rex because had a large nogginand small arms that resembled a T-Rex. Forever a kid at heart, Darcy lit up every room he entered and filled it with laughter. He was never afraid to be his silly authentic self, making everyone he met feel comfortable to be a child alongside him. Darcy could always be seen with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. His nieces and nephews loved going on their annual Shake-N-Bake camping trip, seadoing, him watching them motocross race, doing flips on the trampoline and seeing if they could outlast him in the sauna - which no one ever did. The family would like to thank his RBC co-workers, Fire Fighters, Paramedics and Hospital Staff at St. Boniface Hospital for doing everything they could, to keep Darcy with us. Darcy's Celebration of Life will take place Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., at the Coutu Funeral Home, located at 680 Archibald Street.

My deepest sympathy to Darcy´s family and friends. I worked with Darcy for a short time at BMO and remember how he made me laugh. He always talked about his family and how much they meant to him. I know he will be missed.
