Darren Wright Obituary

On Wednesday, August 3, 2022, Darren went home to be with his Lord and Saviour at the age of 42 after a courageous battle with cancer. Darren was a man of many talents, and he shared them with many people. He played his trumpet in the band in high school and in the city band. He was a graduate of Providence Bible College. Darren worked in the Sears Portrait Studio for a number of years. He was an excellent photographer and was able to take awesome photos of families and children. Darren's greatest love was music. He loved to play his instrument but his gift to everyone was his amazing voice. Darren shared his talents with many as he sang praises to God in choirs and while leading the worship services at church. Darren was the Worship & Ministry Pastor at Grace Church, Thunder Bay and loved the opportunity he had to work with the youth. He will be missed by many. Darren is survived by his parents, Derek and Judy Wright, his twin sister Charlene Sparling (Jason), niece Lisa Sparling and nephews Josh and Brad Sparling, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 1:30 pm at Grace Church, 289 Court St. N. Thunder Bay, ON. Donations in memory of Darren can be given to Grace Church or Dorion Bible Fellowship.

My deepest condolences to the Wright family. I have so many fond memories of Darren from childhood, and always admired his freedom of worship and beautiful voice. I´m so glad his battle is over; may he now enjoy singing in the presence of Jesus.

I'm truly speechless, Darren was too young to go. Thank you Darren for helping me through my own cancer and answering so many questions I had. He sent me positive vibes whenever he could and kept praying for me. You will be greatly missed.

To the family & friends of Darren "Big D" Wright. Please know that I feel your loss tremendously. Although we were not as close as in recent years, that takes nothing away from our time together with the Redwood Park Experience. His walk with God and passion for what God did through him was extremely influential on my own. Many a conversation were had due to our many MANY miles together. He was a good friend, co-conspirator in prankery, but above and beyond all that a brother. There was always a lot of laughter when Big D was around. Thank You Lord for the time we had together. Such fond memories & the people that were touched and impacted by what God did through him. Well done good & faithful servant. Until we meet again. Rest well my old friend.

Dear Wright Family.
Tony and I are so sorry to read of Darren's passing. We enjoyed our time singing along side him at Redwood. He was a big teddy bear and brought much joy through his gift of music. There is no doubt in our minds that he is with his Lord and Saviour singing like he has never done before. Please be assured of our prayers in your grief. We look forward to celebrating his life in September with you. Much love from our house.
