Darryl Harju Obituary

1970 - 2006 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved son, brother, uncle and friend Darryl at the age of 35. Born and raised in Thunder Bay, Darryl was the youngest of four children. He was a loving, caring, and strong person who was always ready to lend a hand. Darryl always put others before himself. A dedicated, hard worker he was a perfectionist which showed in his workmanship. He was a member of the Labours International Local 607 and the Sleeping Giant Shooters Gun Club. Darryl comes from a close family. He had an extraordinary strong bond with his parents as well as a special and unique relationship with each of his three sisters. 'Uncle' as his nieces and nephews referred to him, will forever be in their hearts. In his youth he was active in both hockey and baseball. Later he loved the challenge of a game of golf. Darryl had a great love and passion of the outdoors and respect for the wildlife. At a young age he learned to trap and hunt with Grandpa Jim at Sandstone Lake, where they spent much of their time together. His love of hunting carried on into his adult life. He became a skilled and respected hunter and fisherman. Darryl always looked forward to 'opening weekend' and 'The Fort Frances Deer Hunt' with his good friends and hunting buddies who will miss him dearly. Words at this time cannot express the tremendous loss for all that knew and loved him. Darryl is survived by his loving parents Arnold and Eileen; sisters: Shelly Bjorklund and husband Darren, Nina Naccarato and husband John, Tammy Massaro and husband Chris; nieces and nephews: Christopher, Jessica, Alex, and Katie. Darryl will also be missed by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents Jim and Nessie Ferguson, Joseph and Laila Dalhead. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service for the late Darryl Harju will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 27th, 2006 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Rev. Ed Long. Private interment will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Darryl's memory to the charity of your choice. GONE HUNTING!! We Love You Darryl.
